Hello! My name is La'Tia and baking is one of my fiercest passions.

I grew up in a home where both my parents spent time in the kitchen. I learned so much from both of them and discovered my own love for baking and cooking as a teen. Thankfully, my parents supported my interests and supplied me with special ingredients, baking tools, cake decorating lessons, and a diploma in Pastry Arts that have helped me get to where I am today. 

I love how food can spread joy and bring people together. My hope is that my baked goods and sweet treats do that for you. I started my home-based baking business, Helen & Ava's to share my treats beyond a small circle of friends. I named the business after my two grandmothers who are no longer with us. Helen was a confident, fierce woman who raised six children and supported her family. She died months before I was born but she left me with my first name. Ava was a sweet, joyful woman who raised three boys and took care of everyone around her. I had eleven years with her but that wasn't nearly enough. My hope is to honor them by naming this business after them and continue their legacy of creating memories and making people feel special.
